Missing Bins

Missing Bins

What happened to my bin?

Missing bins often occur for one of the following reasons:

  • Bin movement following collection caused by traffic, weather, workers or pedestrians may have displaced your bins. Sometimes bins end up at a neighbouring property or across the road. It always pays to check in with surrounding properties to see if your bin ended up at their place. They may not know where an additional bin has come from.
  • Occasionally, bins may fall into the waste collection truck when emptied.
  • Stolen.

How can I prevent my bin from going missing?

The best way to prevent your bin from going missing is to return it to your property as soon as possible following waste collection. Your FOGO and General Waste (red lid) bin were issued with a sticker label with the property address on it, however these can fade or fall off over time. If your bins are presented close to your neighbour's, you can consider placing an identifying sticker on the bin body or lid.
