After a two-year wait, excitement is building for the return of the Town of East Fremantle’s George Street Festival on Sunday, December 5, from 11am to 6pm, and this year, the focus is on delivering an eco-friendly sustainable street party.
To achieve this, the Town has applied its Sustainable Event Policy by cutting the use of single plastic, providing the FOGO three bin waste system and partnering with Go2Cup who will work with food and beverage vendors by providing re-useable containers to reduce waste where possible.
Patrons are encouraged to bring their own water bottles, with multiple re-fill stations on site, and to travel sustainably to and from George Street either on foot, by bicycle or by public transport.
Once at the festival, visitors can collect a reusable fabric festival bag for all their goodies, including those early Christmas presents.
Vendors at the festival have been chosen based on their ability to repurpose, reuse or upcycle materials in their creations, with jewellery, art, homewares, fashion and more available.
On the day, the Town’s waste and sustainability officer, members from the Climate Action Reference Group and officers from the Fremantle Recycling Centre and Recycle Right will be available to answer all your sustainability questions.
At the Town Tent, FOGO liners will be available, while at Glasson Park you can take home your own native seedling from APACE Nursery.
Presented by the Town of East Fremantle and proudly supported by Lotterywest and Fremantle Ports, the festival features live music on three stages, kids’ activities, food and drink specials from the local George Street traders and more.
Residents of East Fremantle will receive a printed copy of our event map and live music guide when it is delivered with the Talk of the Town newsletter, but a copy can be downloaded online (click on any of the images below to launch).

For the first time, the Festival will feature a LIVE outside broadcast from RTRFM 92.1's Giant Steps show, sharing the festival with all of Perth and via the magic of digital radio, with the world!
