  • barefoot bowls and games with the East Fremantle Bowls Club

  • live music
  • Lions WA kids train rides
  • kids’ activities including face painting
  • check out the East Freo playgroup facilities
  • food trucks.

Town of East Fremantle Mayor Jim O’Neill said he was excited to celebrate the official opening and encouraged the whole community to join the festivities.

“We’re proud to showcase this state-of-the-art community facility,” he said.

“Whether you’re looking to kick off your shoes and enjoy a game of barefoot bowls, listen to live music, or bringing the family down for a bite to eat from the restaurant and food trucks, there is something on offer for everyone.”

Mayor O'Neill said the East Fremantle Community Park was a once-in-a-generation development that has been a key capital works project in the Town's Strategic Community Plan.

"A key underlying principle of the East Fremantle Community Park is that it is a community facility for all – an integrated and financially sustainable precinct where sports, leisure, cultural events and recreation thrive together, for the use of all residents and visitors to the Town," he said.

The facility also reflects the Town’s commitment to sustainability, including use of electricity rather than natural gas, supplemented by solar panels which will be installed very soon. In addition, there has been an emphasis on using native, waterwise plants, with more tree and shrub planting to be completed in the coming months.

The facility boasts something for everyone, including first-class sporting facilities for football, lawn bows and croquet; Carnaby’s Café, Bar and Restaurant; an all-abilities playground; B-Active Health Club; a vibrant function space; an outdoor basketball half court; a skate zone; and an enclosed dog exercise area.

The precinct is also home to the East Fremantle Football Club, East Fremantle Croquet Club, East Fremantle Bowls Club and East Freo Playgroup.

The East Fremantle Community Park was proudly supported and funded by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries ($25m), Lotterywest ($1.345m) for the playground and skatepark, AFL Facilities Fund ($250,000) and the Town of East Fremantle ($8m).
